Shira grew up in Dallas, TX, and need only put her palm to the ground to sense the direction of a semi-annual sale. She knows a little about a lot of things: Mary Shelley, Survivor (yes it’s still on), Otome Isekai’s, Slavoj Zizek. Is she method acting a supporting character in a Hallmark Christmas movie or is she just extremely undiagnosed? We’ll never know. When Shira’s not campaigning for French Kiss (1995) to finally be on streaming, you’ll find her debating the charming and unsettling similarities between rom coms and horror movies with Bret Dorman on the Necromancer podcast.
Bret Dorman was forged in the frost-bound realms of Rochester, New York, tempered in the iron winds of Chicago and the marble-shadowed courts of the Greater DC dominion, before casting his banner beneath the blazing sun of Austin, Texas. DIGITAL NOISE EPISODE 382: RIP TIM CURRY
Chris and Wright want to note that this episode, covering a wonderful doc about the history of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, was recorded before the death of lead actor Tim Curry. Otherwise you can bet we would have been talking about what an absolute treasure that man was and how the world is a lesser place without him in it. But, you DO get reviews of lots of physical media, like the most bizarre team-up of international actors in a western that added up to a stone-cold classic that we’re surprised doesn’t get any love, a recent Soderberg film that ALSO hasn’t been getting the love it deserves, the weirdly alternating love/hate for this 90s Michael Douglas thriller, maybe our least favorite Wes Craven film ever (which is saying something), and much more.

Born in the wilds of northern Virginia, Chris managed to put all of his survival skills to use and barely escaped with his life to Austin Texas in 1992 where ever since he’s dabbled in everything from plumber’s assistant to sandwich maker, from band to bar and theater management. An opportunity to see theatrical release films for free by becoming a critic on a local public access show called “The Reel Deal” turned into a full-time job when Chris and his friends decided to take it to the internet. They built the site Spill.com, adding multiple podcasts and animated features, to no small amount of success. During this time, a fortuitous friendship sprung up between Chris and young Brian Salisbury, who was also a local film critic, and they merged their forces of will, and their laundry list of ideas for shows, to eventually build this community of critics. While Brian eventually followed his heart to a new family, Chris continues on with a cast of colorful folks from all over the country (and a few others).
Wright Sulek (The Other Boss, Trash in the Can, Digital Noise, Highly Suspect Reviews, One Man’s Trash, Screener Squad)
Wright hails from the northern suburbs of Dallas, Texas. His passion for filmmaking brought him to Austin to study and make movies. Since then he’s had his hand in acting, writing, and directing his own short films with numerous like-minded film geeks he’s met along his journey. His newest interest has brought him into the podcasting world. He co-hosted a few different movie related podcasts such as ‘And Now This’ and ‘The Match Cut’. He currently co-hosts with longtime friend, Eric Samaniego, where they talk shop about the grimiest, trashiest, lost gems of movies on their show, ‘Trash in the Can’. Wright also guests and hosts reviews on Screener Squad and Highly Suspect Reviews as well as co-hosts Digital Noise with Chris Cox. As of 2024, Wright has now been inducted into the Austin Film Critics Association as well as co-owns the One of Us network with Chris Cox.

CAMP ROCK 3 MOVIE REVIEW
Everyone remembers their first rock concert because everyone remembers their first time dreaming of being under those bright stage lights with thousands of voices screaming your name. With your guitar and best buds on stage with you, your job would be to teach the world how to rock! Disney Plus presents the closing act on the musical trilogy started by the Jonas Bros. and Demi Lovato in 2008 with Camp Rock 3. Sage (Liamani Segura) has the biggest stars in her eyes that shine bright like a diamond. With her voice she’ll elevate the talents of her brother Desi (Hudson Stone) and fellow campers that include the bad boy heart throb Fletch (Malachi Barton) and resident mean girl Madison (Ava Jean). They are gonna have to set aside those differences in order to come together and prove they can open for the greatest band of all time, Connect 3. Bradly, Caroline, and Eoin discuss their relationship or lack thereof with the franchise. Has the streaming era outgrown the Disney Channel original movie format, or is this the grand tour reunion of yesteryear and the start of something big?

Bradly Martin was born in the united states and grew up on a healthy diet of sports, films, and books. As a young man Bradly married the love of his life young and grew older every year with each new child brought into the brood. If trends continue, Scientists predict that .2% of Canada (where Bradly and family reside) will be populated by Bradly’s children by the year 2029. Eoin Daly
Born and raised in Dublin Ireland, Eoin currently lives in London and has been an avid film lover from as far back as they can remember. Eoin enjoys going to the cinema weekly regardless of the film: new, old, or the most random title. They have no preconceived notions when taking in a new film. They tend to look for the good in any film they watch and will always love the art form. They are a major fan of actress-led cinema and will never apologize for this one film bias.
Caroline Sulek (Screener Squad, Trash in the Can)
Caroline Sulek resides in Mckinney, TX with her son Henry and two cats: Sally and Rocky. As a mom, corporate baddie, and unabashed lover of all things silly, spooky, and creative, she brings a unique perspective to the One of Us network. Her love of art and movies started long ago when she and her brother, Wright, would spend entire summer vacations in front of the TV and she would draw portraits of Wright as he sat watching for hours. Caroline has been a frequent guest and fan favorite of the Trash in the Can podcast with her brother, Wright, and his life podcast partner, Eric Samaniego. ONSLAUGHT MOVIE REVIEW
The director of You’re Next and The Guest goes back to the action/horror style of his earlier works with Onslaught. The film follows Celeste (Adria Arjona) a super pissed-off single mom and ex-marine now managing a rundown trailer park in the middle of nowhere. Who should interrupt this existence of creeping despair but three psychotic super-soldiers set to kill anyone they encounter. You see, there’s this insane son (Or grandson? Who cares?) of an Operation Paperclip Nazi scientist (Dan Stevens) who has been manipulating these former soldiers with technology to create the ultimate soldier…one with no pain receptors, never questioning their missions, no morality, and total bloodthirst. Ten years ago this would have seem far-fetched as something the government would spend money on, but now? Anyway, as all good crazy experiments by mad scientists do, they escape the military facility out in the desert and set out on a killing spree…down the road from Celeste’s trailer park. You get the rest. There’s some familiar players here, like the always lovable Reginald VelJohnson, Rebecca Hall, Eric Wareheim, and all too briefly, Michael Biehn. Unfortunately, Chris, Wright, Sarah, and Nathan all felt pretty strongly that Onslaught pretty much fails at everything it tries to do. It’s not easy to intentionally make a b-film and make it awesome. Plenty of tried to very mixed results. Add this one to the burn pile.

IDIOTS MOVIE REVIEW
From actor/writer/director Macon Blair (I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore, The Toxic Avenger) comes Idiots, a twisted road trip comedy about a couple of losers who get more than they bargained for when they accept a job escorting a wealthy teenager to an exclusive rehab clinic. Davis (O’Shea Jackson) is a good man at heart, but has a history of making bad decisions. When his last screw-up leaves him without a vehicle, Davis is forced to partner with Mark (Dave Franco), an obnoxious burnout who has a car, but not much else in the way of job qualifications. Unbeknownst to them, their charge Sheridan (Mason Thames) is a sociopathic influencer with a huge online following. Sheridan wastes no time manipulating and tormenting our titular idiots in order to escape their custody. Into this wild mix comes Kiernan Shipka as a vengeful stripper, as well as Peter Dinklage and Nicholas Braun as a couple of dangerous weirdos who have come to claim the large reward Sheridan has offered to anyone willing to rescue him. Mike the Editor, Dom the Movie Nerd, and Marco have watched the film and have thoughts about it. Is this a movie only a moron could love? Or would you have to be an idiot not to like it? Mike J. McAllister is an award-winning creative jack of all trades, and is pretty competent with most of them. He is a writer, director, animator, video editor, and motion graphics artist. He has tried his hand at nearly every form of artistic expression at least once. He was born and raised in Western Pennsylvania where he fell in love with film, writing and special effects at an early age. His obsession with film would lead him to being locally known as a “human IMDb” and being on a first-name basis with every video store clerk in town. He would study film in Pittsburgh before taking his talents to Austin. Not letting something like Tourettes get in his way, he has produced a handful of animated short films that have won awards from film festivals all over the globe. He has also written several yet-to-be-produced screenplays and TV pilots, with some of them being recognized in screenwriting competitions. He has even created motion graphics and animations for several clients, from movie theaters to Twitch streamers. When not creating or watching films, he enjoys MST3K, classic video games and buying vinyl records. He loves dogs, dropping obscure pop culture trivia and watching travel videos. Born and raised in the Hudson Valley, NY, Dom “the Movie Nerd” Rizzi fell in love with film at a young age. After majoring in film in both community college and achieving a Bachelor’s degree in film from SUNY Oswego, Dom went on to start his own podcast Talkin’ TV during Covid before studying acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City. Relentlessly passionate about everything related to film, Dom has shot and produced several short films, as well as having written several scripts. THE LAST HOUSE MOVIE REVIEW
Home is where the heart is. Unfortunately, it’s also where the doors won’t open, the windows won’t break, and something deeply unpleasant is wandering around outside in the rain. Netflix’s The Last House traps Jason (Wagner Moura), Ann (Greta Lee), and their two children inside their family home with absolutely no way out. Days become weeks, weeks become years, food runs short, the kids grow up, and the family must transform their suburban prison into a self-sustaining fortress while trying to understand exactly what — It’s not COVID, but it sure does feel like it’s COVID, right? — has sealed them inside. Part survival thriller, part family drama, and part creature-feature mystery. Rae, Lewayne, and T.C. lock themselves in the One Of Us house to discuss The Last House, the triggering memories of sheltering in place, and whether this Netflix mystery is worth locking yourself inside with for two hours.

THE DOG STARS MOVIE REVIEW
Is just surviving after an apocalyptic pandemic enough? This is the question that Ridley Scott’s new film poses. Based on the book by Peter Heller, The Dog Stars follows Hig (Jacob Elordi), a civilian pilot. He and his ex-marine friend Bangley (Josh Brolin) have holed up outside Denver in an abandoned bush air base in the mountains. Occasionally having to lethally hold it off, without too much effort, against scavengers, Hig doesn’t feel like this is all there is left. He has a friendship with a Mennonite group that have survived higher up in the hills, led by Aaron (Benedict Wong), but he dreams of a safe place and has a goal to get there. His quest leads him along the way to stumble upon a father (Guy Pearce) and daughter (Margaret Qualley) who are initially and understandably quite distrustful of Hig. And that is far from the end of his journey. Chris, Wright, Martin, and Nathan take on this latest entry in the seemingly endless ‘end of the world’ genre and decide whether this film is worth surviving long enough to see.

BATMAN: KNIGHTFALL PT.1 REVIEW
Batman is having a very, very bad week. Can’t catch a break! If rehabilitating the murderous vigilante Azrael wasn’t enough, some jerk named Bane sets all the inmates of Arkham free. Well, not all of them… there are some confusingly notable exceptions. Raised in prison and deluded by his late mother, Bane spends his life obsessed with Thomas Wayne and the city he created, hoping to rule it one day. Feeling that Bruce has made it weak, Bane takes it upon himself to BREAK the Dark Knight for good. And let’s just say, not just figuratively. Batman: Knightfall Pt. 1 takes one of the most well known Batman stories ever told and gives it a feature-length animated treatment. The first part—arguably the most iconic section of the saga—tries to trim the massive storyline down into roughly 80 minutes. With elements of the story already adapted into Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, this version gets to explore Bane’s rise, Batman’s relationship with his Robins, and the start of Azrael’s redemption arc. It also, rather oddly, adds a new storyline in the form of a romance between Bruce and his psychiatrist. Will the movie be a great installment, a mediocre one, or… well, The Killing Joke adaptation? Okay, that’s a pretty low bar. But with DC’s… errr… interesting track record when it comes to direct-to-video adaptations, anything goes. Batman better watch his back… sorry, sorry.
Maciej Kur is a Polish comic and film script writer, director and reviewer, and decidedly the biggest fan and most loyal supporter of Oneofus.net. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw with a master’s degree and the Academy of Film and Television. Co-creator of the comic book series Dollicious and Emilka Sza (with Magdalena Kania ) and Lil i Put, (with Piotr Bednarczyk ) and many others. Awarded in 2014 for a comic book in the spirit of Janusz Christa and awarded for “Złoty Puchar” in 2023. He wrote scripts for new comic books in the Polish cult series “Kayko and Kokosh”, as well as episodes of an animated series based on it (available on Netflix). He wrote for many other shows including “Kicia Kocia” (Kitty Kotty), “Pompik the Bison”, “Pucio”, “Hip-Hip and Hurra” and the upcoming animated movies “The Shrew of Destiny” and “Tytus, Romek and A’tomek”. He also directed a documentary about Polish animation legend “Witold Giersz”. Big lover of the art of animation and comic books.
Michael Riojas (Screener Squad, Highly Suspect Reviews)
The man with the ever-changing nicknames. Born in Austin, Riojas was rocketed to Del Rio, Texas, a literal Smallville. In his youth, he was bitten by a radioactive… okay, look. Mike is not very good at this whole “talking about himself” thing. But he has been so obsessed with comics, video games, and anime since childhood- that if one has to choose between listening to Joe Quesada or Mike over any obscure Spider-Man trivia, they go to him (or, at least Martin Thomas once said so). He is also a big fan of “Ghostbusters” (he even owns his own jumpsuit and two, that’s right, TWO proton packs!), collects toys and video games, and will defend “Superman IV: The Quest for Peace” if provoked. He lives in Austin with his beloved Dachshund-Maltese and trusted sidekick, Dean. He can also be heard on RageSelect. He can be found on Twitter and Instagram.

Wright hails from the northern suburbs of Dallas, Texas. His passion for filmmaking brought him to Austin to study and make movies. Since then he’s had his hand in acting, writing, and directing his own short films with numerous like-minded film geeks he’s met along his journey. His newest interest has brought him into the podcasting world. He co-hosted a few different movie related podcasts such as ‘And Now This’ and ‘The Match Cut’. He currently co-hosts with longtime friend, Eric Samaniego, where they talk shop about the grimiest, trashiest, lost gems of movies on their show, ‘Trash in the Can’. Wright also guests and hosts reviews on Screener Squad and Highly Suspect Reviews as well as co-hosts Digital Noise with Chris Cox. As of 2024, Wright has now been inducted into the Austin Film Critics Association as well as co-owns the One of Us network with Chris Cox.
Eric Samaniego (Trash in the Can, Heart/Felt, Make a Noise, Highly Suspect Reviews)
Eric Samaniego is a multi-award show watching, sometimes comedian, sometimes writer who began life as a Muppet and 1930s screwball comedy obsessed goon and still carries a torch for all things felt, funny, and a little bit unhinged. With a passion for genre films, poor taste, and whiskey, he co-hosts Trash in the Can, a podcast that digs through cinema’s dustbin in search of the best worst movies alongside longtime co-conspirator Wright Sulek. Eric and Wright also bring their love of cinematic oddities to the big screen with One Man’s Trash, a monthly live screening series at Violet Crown Cinema in Austin, Texas, spotlighting cult classics, forgotten flops, and anything proudly wearing the label “so bad it’s good.” He also hosted Heart/Felt, a limited podcast series celebrating the 70th anniversary of The Muppets and the enduring legacy of Jim Henson. He has a new limited series on One of Us that explores the films and life of comedy legend Mel Brooks called Make a Noise. When not podcasting, Eric serves as an American military officer, statesman, and Founding Father who was the first president of the United States from 1789 to 1797.

BUTTHOLE SURFERS: THE HOLE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUTT MOVIE REVIEW
Legendary music journalist Michael Azerrad said about his iconic book Our Band Could Be Your Life, “The most surprising and rewarding chapter to write was the Butthole Surfers chapter. I’d always thought of them as a bunch of drug-addled reprobates – which maybe they were – but it turned out to be more complicated than that.”. The new documentary about the band, Butthole Surfers: The Hole Truth and Nothing Butt, feels like this quote was the mission statement. Directed by Tom Stern, who had worked with the band and various members in the past, takes what may be the craziest music history on record, and makes a fast-moving, sometimes animated, sometimes told by puppets, funny as hell documentary that genuinely has some really emotionally devastating moments as well. The band’s legend grew from their one of a kind Texas-fried psychedelic punk to the anarchic surrealist spectacle of their live shows. But their journey behind the scenes was almost as crazed as their public personas. Filled with interviews from some genuinely impressive gets, and more honesty about what all this was really like that you’re typically used to seeing in a band documentary, The Hole Truth and Nothing Butt deserves to be held up as a classic of the genre. Chris, Marco, Drew Tinnin, and Beau gather to discuss the film and, of course, their own Butthole Surfers related experiences that thankfully, the statute of limitations has run out on them being charged for any of their admittances.
Christopher Lawrence Cox (Founder, Da Boss, Digital Noise, Highly Suspect Reviews, Screener Squad, Deliberations of Doom)
Born in the wilds of northern Virginia, Chris managed to put all of his survival skills to use and barely escaped with his life to Austin Texas in 1992 where ever since he’s dabbled in everything from plumber’s assistant to sandwich maker, from band to bar and theater management. An opportunity to see theatrical release films for free by becoming a critic on a local public access show called “The Reel Deal” turned into a full-time job when Chris and his friends decided to take it to the internet. They built the site Spill.com, adding multiple podcasts and animated features, to no small amount of success. During this time, a fortuitous friendship sprung up between Chris and young Brian Salisbury, who was also a local film critic, and they merged their forces of will, and their laundry list of ideas for shows, to eventually build this community of critics. While Brian eventually followed his heart to a new family, Chris continues on with a cast of colorful folks from all over the country (and a few others).
By day, Marco is a mild-mannered office worker, but by night he is a mild-mannered movie watcher. He does other mild-mannered stuff too.

Beau Paul is an Austin native, an actor, and a writer. Sometimes all at once! Previously he has attempted to be an internet entertainer (the funny ha-ha kind, not the naked moneymaking kind) at Spill.com, and now here on OneOfUs.net. Drew Tinnin is a Rondo Award nominated interviewer and critic who has worked at SiriusXM’s Fangoria Radio and Fangoria magazine in NYC, as well as the London-based Dazed Digital. Currently a regular contributor to the Dread Central Network, he’s excited to join up with some old friends and other film fans on One of Us as a new contributor to Screener Squad.
