THE LAST HOUSE MOVIE REVIEW
Home is where the heart is. Unfortunately, it’s also where the doors won’t open, the windows won’t break, and something deeply unpleasant is wandering around outside in the rain. Netflix’s The Last House traps Jason (Wagner Moura), Ann (Greta Lee), and their two children inside their family home with absolutely no way out. Days become weeks, weeks become years, food runs short, the kids grow up, and the family must transform their suburban prison into a self-sustaining fortress while trying to understand exactly what — It’s not COVID, but it sure does feel like it’s COVID, right? — has sealed them inside. Part survival thriller, part family drama, and part creature-feature mystery. Rae, Lewayne, and T.C. lock themselves in the One Of Us house to discuss The Last House, the triggering memories of sheltering in place, and whether this Netflix mystery is worth locking yourself inside with for two hours.

In the last ten years, he has directed 57 films, 23 episodes of his series The One Minute Rewatch, 300+ episodes of podcasts, and his multi-award-winning short film Screen: Righter screened at the Festival de Cannes in 2016. He has released two feature films, The Princess Knight and A Christmas Sunset. He thrives on collaboration and the thrill of sharing stories in all forms.

Lewayne’s earliest memories are of watching movies and reading comics, which instilled in him a sense of wonder, a vivid imagination, and unrealistic expectations. It also means he spends a lot of time watching movies, writing scripts for them, and trying to get them made. He lives in the middle of middle America after landing there as a child, and has remained there mainly because he hates packing.
