THE CHRISTOPHERS MOVIE REVIEW
From prolific filmmaker Steven Soderbergh comes a dramatic comedy about elderly artist, Julian Sklar (Ian McKellan) and his newly hired assistant Lori Butler (Michaela Coel). Unbeknownst to Julian, his greedy children Barnaby and Sallie (James Corden and Jessica Gunning) hired Lori not because of her experience as a personal assistant, but because she’s a master forger who has closely studied their father’s work. In the 1990s, Julian became the star of the art world thanks to a series of paintings called “The Christophers”, inspired by his model, muse, and lover. And then he abruptly stopped painting Christophers. For decades, there were rumors that Julian had several Christopher portraits that had never been exhibited before, and if they were ever to come to market, they would fetch millions of pounds at auction. The truth is, Julian could never bring himself to complete the final series of Christophers, so his shady children have tasked Lori with locating the paintings and completing them in their father’s style. Once Julian dies, they will pass off these forged Christophers as the real thing. Lori agrees to the job, but does she have motives of her own, beyond her considerable fee? Our reviewers Kimberley, Sarah Jane, Nathan, and Marco are ready to critique the film, but be advised that two of our critics are absolutely real, while one of them is an obvious forgery, and the other one is a glitching Chatbot that regularly mixes up words like “interview” and “review” and can’t even say “AI” consistently. HINT: they’re the same person.

By day, Marco is a mild-mannered office worker, but by night he is a mild-mannered movie watcher. He does other mild-mannered stuff too.
“I’m not a film critic. I just play one on the Internet.”

Nathan Flynn (Screener Squad, Highly Suspect Reviews)
Nathan Flynn is the resident goofball of OneofUs.Net, often found overly caffeinated, slightly stoned, and ready to unleash the hottest takes imaginable. As the resident Letterboxd Lunatic, his movie opinions are as bold as his love for Top Gun: Maverick — a film he considers less of a movie and more of a religion. When he’s not passionately defending his latest cinematic obsession, Nathan manages a comedy club in downtown Austin, where he’s somehow avoided being heckled… so far. Around here, he’s usually the punching bag, but hey, someone’s gotta do it.

Sarah Jane (Highly Suspect Reviews, Screener Squad)
Sarah Jane was born and raised in Southern California but currently calls Austin, TX her home. She’s seen over 5,700 movies so far with zero plans on stopping. She has a penchant for all things exploitation, and she loves Godzilla with all her heart. Her favorite films are Deep Red, Le Samourai, and Miller’s Crossing. When she isn’t watching movies, she’s busy herding her four cats, her husband, and her 11-year-old kiddo. She’s been a contributor to TalkFilmSociety, Daily Grindhouse, FThisMovie!, Looper, and the Austin Chronicle. You can find her on Twitter and Letterboxd at @fookthis.
