Screener Squad: Raised By Wolves Season 2

Raised By Wolves Season 2 Review

RAISED BY WOLVES SEASON 2 REVIEW

Season 2 of Raised By Wolves proves that it’s still one of the strangest shows on television. The story follows Mother and Father (Amanda Collin and Abubakar Salim), a pair of androids programmed to raise human children on a remote planet after a religious war leaves 22nd century Earth uninhabitable. Season 2 finds the family joining a colony of atheists living in the planet’s tropical zone. Compared to the rugged homestead of Season 1, the tropical zone is paradise; a real garden of Eden. But it wouldn’t be Eden without a tree of knowledge, forbidden fruit, and a serpent (a flying biomechanical snake baby that grows to immense size, to be exact) and it wouldn’t be Raised By Wolves without blatant religious imagery, and allusions to ancient mythology. It’s a heady mixture of hard sci-fi, weird fiction, pulp adventure, and body horror that explores such wide ranging themes as evolution, parenting, faith vs science, nature vs nurture, and what it means to be human. It’s a lot to cram into a single series, and it’s so full of bizarre visuals, crazy narrative turns, and WTF moments that it’s hard to discuss without going into spoilers. Our reviewers Jena, Marco, and Wright try to avoid huge spoilers during the first part of the review, but shortly after the 16 minute mark, they go into full spoiler mode, and boy did they have a lot to talk about!

Wright hails from the northern suburbs of Dallas, Texas. His passion for filmmaking brought him to Austin to study and make movies. Since then he’s had his hand in acting, writing, and directing his own short films with numerous like-minded film geeks he’s met along his journey. His newest interest has brought him into the podcasting world. He co-hosted a few different movie related podcasts such as ‘And Now This’ and ‘The Match Cut’. He currently co-hosts with longtime friend, Eric Samaniego, where they talk shop about the grimiest, trashiest, lost gems of movies on their show, ‘Trash in the Can’. Jena Perry. Aka Luna. Aka Dion. Aka Memori. Aka Dog whisperer. Aka whiskey connoisseur. As you can see, depending on when you met this Oakland, California native, you have experienced a completely different person, each time. After finally deciding on a 13+year career choice as a Videographer and Radio Personality, Jena balances her time between pursuing her Doctorate in Philosophy, providing insightful and funny critiques on films and Television, raising her daughter and dog in Ohio, and constantly fighting off the existential dread that is being a dope black woman in America in the 20th century.

Marco Noyola (Digital Noise, Highly Suspect Reviews, Screener Squad, Audio Editor)

By day, Marco is a mild-mannered office worker, but by night he is a mild-mannered movie watcher. He does other mild-mannered stuff too.
