Screener Squad: Masterplan

MASTERPLAN MOVIE REVIEW

Masterplan stars Stanley Tucci as Roger Cavendish, a legendary thief of international renown with one last scheme before he retires. Roger plans to steal the Mona Lisa, but to pull off the crime of the century, he’ll need the help of his children, master hacker Chiara (Simona Tabasco) and explosives expert Jay (Victor Belmondo). There’s a problem though; Chiara and Jay don’t know one another, and neither of them know that Roger is their biological father. It seems crime runs in this family. Shortly after recruiting them, Roger shows them the positive results of a DNA test confirming he is their father. He expresses regret for not being present in their lives, however, he promises to make it up to them by cutting them into the greatest art heist in history; a job so daring that he doesn’t trust anyone but his own family with the details. They only have seven days to bond as a team, learn to become a family, and steal the most famous painting in the world. It’s not the ideal way to reunite with your long lost father and the sibling you never knew you had, but maybe the real family are the thieves we met along the way. The Oneofus security team composed of Eoin, Frank and Marco have studied the plans, reviewed the footage, and are here to tell you whether this Amazon Original stole their hearts, or just robbed them of their time.

Marco Noyola (Digital Noise, Highly Suspect Reviews, Screener Squad, Audio Editor)

By day, Marco is a mild-mannered office worker, but by night he is a mild-mannered movie watcher. He does other mild-mannered stuff too.
“I’m not a film critic. I just play one on the Internet.”

Frank Calvillo (Highly Suspect Reviews, Screener Squad, What Ever Happened to Bette & Joan?, Hollywood Royalty)

Born and raised in South Texas, Frank currently lives in Austin and has been in love with movies ever since his father showed him some Three Stooges shorts when he was five years old. Today he loves all kinds of film, regardless of era, country, budget or genre. He believes every film has an audience and is at least one person’s favorite movie. After writing for Sight & Sound and Slackerwood, he now writes for Cinapse where his increasingly random taste in all flavors of cinema (from Rashomon to Mars Attacks!) continues to thrive. His ultimate goal is to write a script for his boyhood crush, Michelle Pfeiffer.

Eoin Daly

Born and raised in Dublin Ireland, Eoin currently lives in London and has been an avid film lover from as far back as they can remember. Eoin enjoys going to the cinema weekly regardless of the film: new, old, or the most random title. They have no preconceived notions when taking in a new film. They tend to look for the good in any film they watch and will always love the art form. They are a major fan of actress-led cinema and will never apologize for this one film bias.
