HOLLYWOOD ROYALTY: EP.12 – THE HANDMAID’S TALE/THE TEMP/RUNNING MATES
This week on Hollywood Royalty, it’s time for our penultimate episode featuring the Faye you love to hate with three films that show the actress’ knack for exploring characters that, while not outright villains, defy conventional likability. First up, we look at Faye’s chilly take on Serena Joy in the 1990 adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s classic dystopian novel, The Handmaid’s Tale. After that, we see Faye play the ruthless head of a cookie company who is determined to stay on top in the 1993 thriller The Temp. Finally, Faye takes on the role of a longtime Senator’s wife who knows where all the bodies are buried in the 2000 political comedy Running Mates. Critic at Next Best Picture and Awards Watch, and co-host of the Halloweeners podcast, Cody Derricks, joins me to look at Faye’s portrayals of three women who couldn’t care less about being liked.
