HOLLYWOOD ROYALTY EP.5: COLD SASSY TREE/THE CHAMBER/ALBINO ALLIGATOR
Up next on Hollywood Royalty, we head down south for three movies that make use of Faye’s Southern background. First, we travel to Georgia at the turn of the century to see Faye play a fiercely independent woman who enters into a May/December romance with a recently widowed store owner (Richard Widmark) in the 1989 cable film Cold Sassy Tree. After that, we head to Mississippi for 1996’s The Chamber, a John Grisham adaptation that casts Faye as a socialite struggling to keep dark family secrets hidden. Finally, we end up in New Orleans in Albino Alligator where Faye plays a local barmaid who finds herself in a life-and-death situation when a trio of desperate criminals (Matt Dillon, William Fichtner, and Gary Sinise) take the bar hostage. Co-host of the podcast Pfeiffer Pfridays, Michael McClain, joins me as we explore down-home Faye.
