GONE IN THE NIGHT
Gone in the Night is the tale of Kath (Winona Ryder) and her younger, less mature boyfriend Max (John Gallagher, Jr.). To salvage their strained relationship, the couple decides to spend a weekend in a remote cabin in the woods. If movies have taught us anything, it’s that nothing good ever happens in a cabin in the woods. To their surprise, there’s already another couple staying at the cabin. Despite the double booking mishap, millennials Al and Greta (Owen Teague and Brianne Tju) agree to let Kath and Max spend the night. The next morning, Kath discovers that Greta dumped Al and ran off with Max in the middle of the night. Kath is heartbroken at being left for a younger woman, but she tries to move on. Nevertheless, she becomes obsessed with finding the woman who stole her boyfriend. She reaches out to Nicholas (Dermot Mulroney), the owner of the cabin. At first, Nicholas is reluctant to get involved, but Kath wins him over, and Airbnb privacy policy be damned, he agrees to help her stake out Greta’s last known address. Little does Kath know that her search for her missing ex-boyfriend’s homewrecking side piece will lead her to a larger, more terrifying truth. Or at least that’s what the filmmakers would like you to believe. Our reviewers were less than convinced. Listen to the review to hear why Frank, LeWayne, Sarah Jane, and Marco were not happy campers after watching this movie.

Marco Noyola (Digital Noise, Highly Suspect Reviews, Screener Squad, Audio Editor)
By day, Marco is a mild-mannered office worker, but by night he is a mild-mannered movie watcher. He does other mild-mannered stuff too.
“You don’t need to follow me. You don’t need to follow anybody!”
Frank Calvillo (Highly Suspect Reviews, Screener Squad)
Born and raised in South Texas, Frank currently lives in Austin and has been in love with movies ever since his father showed him some Three Stooges shorts when he was five years old. Today he loves all kinds of film, regardless of era, country, budget or genre. He believes every film has an audience and is at least one person’s favorite movie. After writing for Sight & Sound and Slackerwood, he now writes for Cinapse where his increasingly random taste in all flavors of cinema (from Rashomon to Mars Attacks!) continues to thrive. His ultimate goal is to write a script for his boyhood crush, Michelle Pfeiffer.
Lewayne White (Screener Squad)
Lewayne’s earliest memories are of watching movies and reading comics, which instilled in him a sense of wonder, a vivid imagination, and unrealistic expectations. It also means he spends a lot of time watching movies, writing scripts for them, and trying to get them made. He lives in the middle of middle America after landing there as a child, and has remained there mainly because he hates packing.
Sarah Jane (Highly Suspect Reviews, Screener Squad)
Sarah Jane was born and raised in Southern California but currently calls Austin, TX her home. She’s seen over 5,700 movies so far with zero plans on stopping. She has a penchant for all things exploitation, and she loves Godzilla with all her heart. Her favorite films are Deep Red, Le Samourai, and Miller’s Crossing. When she isn’t watching movies, she’s busy herding her four cats, her husband, and her 11-year-old kiddo. She’s been a contributor to TalkFilmSociety, Daily Grindhouse, FThisMovie!, Looper, and the Austin Chronicle. You can find her on Twitter and Letterboxd at @fookthis.
