HOLLYWOOD ROYALTY – BONUS EP.1: THE WOMAN I LOVE/THE DISAPPEARANCE OF AIMEE
Hollywood Royalty returns with the first in a series of bonus episodes where we’ll be looking at, among other things, more 60s/70s Faye. We’re kicking things off with made-for-TV Faye and two TV movies the actress made during her 1970s glory days that saw her play two famous and very different women who each found themselves courting scandal. First up, Faye takes on the role of American socialite Wallis Simpson in 1972’s The Woman I Love opposite Richard Chamberlain as Edward, the Prince of Wales. After that, Faye stars alongside the legendary Bette Davis as evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson in 1976’s The Disappearance of Aimee. Scott Humphries, author of The Age of Melodramatic Miniseries: When Glamour Ruled on Television, returns to discuss these two TV movies, each with their own bit of real-life scandal that existed apart from the stories they were telling.
