THE TESTAMENTS SERIES REVIEW
Margaret Atwood’s 2019 novel The Testaments is a sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale that was over 3 decades in the making. It’s now been brought to life through a ten episode series on Hulu/Disney Plus starring a cast of on the rise. Praise be! The young plum Agnes (Chase Infiniti) has become a woman! Blessed be the fruit! As a newly blessed woman it is now her duty to take a husband and procreate. In the land of Gilead it is every young woman’s duty to become fertile young wives for the men of the nation. Under his eye, they must stay happy, healthy, and worthy as wives and future mothers. Certainly no reading, writing, or independent thoughts to lead them towards a life of debauchery and sin is allowed. Daisy (Lucy Halliday) a young woman from the outside world of a far away land called Toronto can learn to be a faithful servant of Gilead as well. What the leaders and Aunts of the cult don’t know is that Daisy is a secret spy. She’s a part of a freedom fighting network called Mayday whose purpose is to take down the oppressive tyrannical society of Gilead. Bradly, Eoin, and Chris Ayres discuss their history with The Handmaid’s Tale series, how it serves this legacy sequel, and how the series can stand on its own without it. In addition they praise the thespians throughout the series that include Ann Dowd, Elisabeth Moss, Mabel Li, and Rowan Blanchard.

Bradly Martin was born in the united states and grew up on a healthy diet of sports, films, and books. A rather shy lad who kept to himself, Bradly soon discovered the best way to know a person was to know what people liked. Throughout the years Bradly became a fan of many things and a fanatic of none. From Doctor Dre, to Doctor Strange and the who’s who of Whos. From Playstation to the Dreamcast and Marvel to DC. From LeBron James to James Bond and Lord of the Rings to Lord Palmerston (or Pitt the Elder if you agree with Wade Boggs) and is a huge fan of dad jokes and randomly obscure Simpsons references. Armed with a vast knowledge of comics, films, and pop culture. Bradly traveled the world making friends and sharing takes. As a young man Bradly married the love of his life young and grew older every year with each new child brought into the brood. If trends continue, Scientists predict that .2% of Canada (where Bradly and family reside) will be populated by Bradly’s children by the year 2029. You can hear him leading and listening to his favorite critics on the Screener Squad and maybe even providing some comments of his own.

Born and raised in the suburbs of Hinsdale, Illinois, Chris Ayres would constantly watch movies as a child, and that obsession has only grown over time, even attending Columbia Film School in Chicago during his last couple years of college. Whenever he’s not working his exhausting day job, he’s either watching as many movies as he can squeeze into his free time (preferably movies he’s never seen before due to a never-ending desire to expand his knowledge of the art form), or trying to turn people on to movies they haven’t seen that he thinks are worth their attention. Eoin Daly
Born and raised in Dublin Ireland, Eoin currently lives in London and has been an avid film lover from as far back as they can remember.
