Screener Squad: Fallout Season 2

FALLOUT SEASON 2 REVIEW

Who needs a nuclear armageddon to turn America into a barren wasteland when water-hungry AI data centers belonging to Amazon and other tech giants can do the job just as well? It’s an irony befitting the world of Fallout, the long running video games series and now critically acclaimed TV show… from Amazon. Like the games that inspired them, the show violently satirizes corporate greed, consumerism, the military-industrial complex, and America’s most jingoistic, nativist impulses. Inevitably (perhaps intentionally), those things brought about the end of the world. Fallout Season 2 moves the story to New Vegas, location of one of the franchise’s most beloved (and buggiest) games. They say “whatever happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” but that was the old Vegas. Whatever happens in New Vegas threatens to spread across the Mojave Wasteland until shadowy forces can reclaim whatever remains of the American Southwest. Are a naive Vault Dweller, a disillusioned Knight of the Brotherhood of Steel, and an amoral, gunslinging ghoul enough to beat the house at its own game? Our critics crawled out of the Oneofus Vault long enough to find out. Rae is a recently emerged “Vaultie” who is acclimating well to the apocalypse, while Neil and Marco are grizzled wastelanders and experienced loot goblins. Check out their review before they become ghoulified or eaten by rad roaches!

By day, Marco is a mild-mannered office worker, but by night he is a mild-mannered movie watcher. He does other mild-mannered stuff too.
“I’m not a film critic. I just play one on the Internet.”

Lyrae Anderson (Screener Squad)

You can call me Rae. You can also call me a film lover. I’ll watch it all — small screen; big screen, and everything in between. I have attended and worked for Fantastic Fest and South by Southwest for many years. I married a film geek as well. While we don’t agree on everything, we agree on our love of movies.

Neil Anderson (Screener Squad)

I first got hooked on movies when I saw Star Wars at a drive-in theater as a kid. Growing up in a small, rural town meant not having access to a lot of movies. In college, that all changed. I couldn’t get enough. I love it all — flicks, films, movies, and cinema. I still have that wide-eyed wonder of that kid watching movies from the back of a pick-up truck at the drive-in.
