Welcome to the third in our series of minisodes focusing on the 60s and 70s films that helped make Faye Dunaway a star Here we discuss the actress leading an international all-star cast in 1976’s Voyage of the Damned. The film was based on the true story of nearly 1000 Jewish passengers who boarded an ocean liner in 1939, departing Hamburg for Cuba as a way of escaping Hitler’s regime only to be refused entry upon their arrival. Faye plays Denise Kreisler, the upper-class wife of a revered doctor who tries to hold herself together in the face of great uncertainty. Host of The Lone Acting Nominees and co-host of Televised: The TV Movie Story podcasts, Gordon McNulty, returns as we talk about this underexplored pocket of pre-WW2 history, the sprawling array of talent on display, and how good it was to be Faye Dunaway in 1976.
