HOLLYWOOD ROYALTY EP.3: THE MESSENGER/WAIT UNTIL SPRING,BANDINI/THIRTEEN AT DINNER
In our third episode of Hollywood Royalty: Dunaway After Crawford, we explore time-traveling Faye and the actress’s ability to fit into any kind of world or time period on the screen. We begin in the Middle Ages with Faye playing real-life Queen Yolonde de Aragon in 1999’s The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc. After that, we head to 1920s Colorado in 1989’s Wait Until Spring, Bandini, where we see Faye play a wealthy widow who falls in love with a married Italian bricklayer played by Joe Mantegna in this drama from producer Francis Ford Coppola. We conclude our journey in 1980s London for the 1985 updated adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Thirteen at Dinner, where Faye stars as a glamorous movie star accused of murder. Host of The Lone Acting Nominees and co-host of Televised: The TV Movie Story podcasts, Gordon McNulty, joins me as we look at Faye make her way through these very specific eras on the screen.
YOUR HOST

Frank Calvillo (Highly Suspect Reviews, Screener Squad, What Ever Happened to Bette & Joan?, Hollywood Royalty)
Born and raised in South Texas, Frank currently lives in Austin and has been in love with movies ever since his father showed him some Three Stooges shorts when he was five years old. Today he loves all kinds of film, regardless of era, country, budget or genre. He believes every film has an audience and is at least one person’s favorite movie. After writing for Sight & Sound and Slackerwood, he now writes for Cinapse where his increasingly random taste in all flavors of cinema (from Rashomon to Mars Attacks!) continues to thrive. His ultimate goal is to write a script for his boyhood crush, Michelle Pfeiffer.
