Screener Squad: The Mighty Nein Season 1

THE MIGHTY NEIN SEASON 1 REVIEW

Stranger Things, Critical Role, Vin Diesel on podcasts having hours of play time with friends and family, Henry Cavill with his Adonis looks and muscular glory geeking out with other players as he negotiates with Amazon to start a Warhammer series…Much like comic book storytelling in the early 2000’s, table top role playing adventures are at peak popularity among long time fans and newly discovered travelers. After the booming success of the animated series Vox Machina on Amazon Prime, it only made sense to roll for initiative and animate another one of Critical Role‘s beloved campaigns, The Mighty Nein. The story begins with a dangerous heist as a beacon of great power is stolen after its use in an ancient ceremony. The getaway goes wrong and the beacon is not recovered. Six adventurers become wrapped up in the conspiracy and thrust into a magical world of adventure: A homeless bum with powerful magic, Caleb (Liam O’Brien). A goblin coward with a paternal side, Nott the Brave (Sam Riegel). A soul monk with a chip on her shoulder and no desire to skip leg day, Beau (Marisha Ray). A happy go lucky cleric that worships an invisible god, Jester (Laura Bailey). A master of the cards and charisma who’s lost his hometown hustle, Mollymauk (Taliesin Jaffe). Lastly, a marooned sailor looking to avenge his captain, Fjord (Travis Willingham). Bradly, Matt, and Felix band together and discuss the sweeping success of table top sit downs adapted into epic animated series, mull over the special guests from Angelia Huston to Nathan Fillion, and enter the dungeon of unfair comparison to decide whether or not the spin-off adventure is just as good or worst than the previous endeavour, Vox Machina.

Bradly Martin (Screener Squad Boss, Eye on the Prize, Breakfast Pub)

Bradly Martin was born in the united states and grew up on a healthy diet of sports, films, and books. A rather shy lad who kept to himself, Bradly soon discovered the best way to know a person was to know what people liked. Throughout the years Bradly became a fan of many things and a fanatic of none. From Doctor Dre, to Doctor Strange and the who’s who of Whos. From Playstation to the Dreamcast and Marvel to DC. From LeBron James to James Bond and Lord of the Rings to Lord Palmerston (or Pitt the Elder if you agree with Wade Boggs) and is a huge fan of dad jokes and randomly obscure Simpsons references. Armed with a vast knowledge of comics, films, and pop culture. Bradly traveled the world making friends and sharing takes. As a young man Bradly married the love of his life young and grew older every year with each new child brought into the brood. If trends continue, Scientists predict that .2% of Canada (where Bradly and family reside) will be populated by Bradly’s children by the year 2029. You can hear him leading and listening to his favorite critics on the Screener Squad and maybe even providing some comments of his own.

Matt Foster (Screener Squad)

Matt Foster is a stand up comic, podcaster, and movie critic currently living in the greater Salt Lake City area. His lifelong love of genre film began early, when he realized they freaked out his mom. He performs (epidemics permitting) regularly on Dungeons and Comedy, a DND live play with standup comedians, and is the slightly less mustache-y half of the Nighthawks Podcast, a cinema-centric discussion cohosted by Trevor T. Trujillo.

R.Felix Finch (Screener Squad)

A native of Sacramento, California, and having spent his post-pubescent years in Virginia, Nevada, Texas, and New York, Felix now finds himself pursuing his Juris Doctor at Emory University School of Law in Atlanta, Georgia. Nothing is more calming to Felix than the comfort of Chaos, as his time in professional wrestling and on other podcasts has demonstrated, and Felix brings a love for the most absurd outings in the realms of cinema, finding his escape in things such as the overly complex world of Jupiter Ascending and perusing the unbelievably low-budget offerings of Tubi, which Felix is fully convinced is a Psi-Op. In addition to finding Felix here on OneOfUs.net, you can Check him out on TikTokInstagram, and YouTube sharing his life in Law School as “TheBrokeLawStudent.”
