HOLLYWOOD ROYALTY: MINISODE #1: NETWORK
For the first in a series of minisodes in which we look at the 60s and 70s films that helped make Faye Dunaway a star, we revisit Sidney Lumet’s game-changing Network ahead of its 50th anniversary later this year. The story of a television network that goes from the bottom to the top thanks to the ravings of its longtime newsman (Peter Finch) that strike a chord with America, is as brilliant as ever. This is due in no small part to Faye’s Oscar-winning, tour-de-force performance as a numbers-hungry executive who will stop at nothing when it comes to achieving ratings success. Eoin Daly returns to talk about this darkly funny comedy, its place in the current landscape, and what many consider to be Faye’s finest hour on screen.
YOUR HOST

Frank Calvillo (Highly Suspect Reviews, Screener Squad, What Ever Happened to Bette & Joan?, Hollywood Royalty)
Born and raised in South Texas, Frank currently lives in Austin and has been in love with movies ever since his father showed him some Three Stooges shorts when he was five years old. Today he loves all kinds of film, regardless of era, country, budget or genre. He believes every film has an audience and is at least one person’s favorite movie. After writing for Sight & Sound and Slackerwood, he now writes for Cinapse where his increasingly random taste in all flavors of cinema (from Rashomon to Mars Attacks!) continues to thrive. His ultimate goal is to write a script for his boyhood crush, Michelle Pfeiffer.
