WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO BETTE & JOAN?: BONUS EPISODE 2: ROM-COM QUEENS
Welcome to the second bonus episode of What Ever Happened to Bette & Joan?, an ongoing journey of the later careers of Bette Davis & Joan Crawford. Although our travels through Bette & Joan’s post-Baby Jane years may have come to an end, our time with these leading ladies has not. This holiday season, we’ll be going back and exploring classic Bette & Joan through a variety of titles tied together by a common theme. On this week’s episode, we’ll be exploring Bette & Joan’s time in the romantic comedy genre with two titles that saw them trying to avoid cupid’s arrow: 1942’s They All Kissed the Bride starring Joan Crawford, and 1948’s June Bride starring Bette Davis. InSession Film‘s Zita Short joins me to break down how well Bette & Joan do in a genre most don’t typically associate with the two stars.

YOUR HOST

Frank Calvillo (Highly Suspect Reviews, Screener Squad, What Ever Happened to Bette & Joan?)
Born and raised in South Texas, Frank currently lives in Austin and has been in love with movies ever since his father showed him some Three Stooges shorts when he was five years old. Today he loves all kinds of film, regardless of era, country, budget or genre. He believes every film has an audience and is at least one person’s favorite movie. After writing for Sight & Sound and Slackerwood, he now writes for Cinapse where his increasingly random taste in all flavors of cinema (from Rashomon to Mars Attacks!) continues to thrive. His ultimate goal is to write a script for his boyhood crush, Michelle Pfeiffer.
