UNKNOWN ORIGINS MOVIE REVIEW
The newest Netflix release has hit the stands with writer/director David Galán Galindo’s “Unknown Origins”. When dead bodies start showing up with their deaths channeling famous superhero origin stories, police are stumped. In desperation, detective David, an orphan whose parents were murdered outside a movie theatre, and Norma, a Captain with a love for cosplay, recruit a geek consultant in Jorge. As the bodies stack up our loveable trio bond while they have to dive into geek culture in a movie that shifts from detective movie to buddy geek comedy to superhero origin story. Was this a tonal mess or was it a cool genre mashup that is actually pretty darn faithful to its source of inspiration? Come check out Aaron, Jena, Eliot, and Mark try to figure it out.
DIRECTED BY: David Galán Galindo
STARRING: Verónica Echegui, Leonardo Sbaraglia, Javier Rey, Álex García, Ernesto Alterio, Carlos Areces, Brays Efe, Antonio Resine, Roman Rymar, Fran Bleu
