RELIC MOVIE REVIEW
Emily Mortimer and Bella Heathcote play mother (Kay) and daughter (Sam) who drive out to Kay’s mother Edna’s house as she appears to have gone missing. The house is falling apart, filled with junk, decay, and creaking old house noises. Post-it reminder notes litter the house indicating a mind also in disrepair. For days she remains missing. Then, suddenly, she returns with no memory of where she’s been. As Edna gets stranger and stranger, so do the experiences that Kay and Sam begin to have inside the old labyrinthine house. These things are metaphorically linked, of course, and it creates an effectively disturbing art-horror drama that some of our critics qualify as among the best films of the year. Listen to Chris, Adrian, Jordan, and Lewayne give you some details.
