PALM SPRINGS MOVIE REVIEW
It’s the summer of SNL alumni man-children! Ok, that’s a bit harsh as we like Andy Samberg much better than Pete Davidson, but here he is playing that lovable (?) goof-off we’re so used to seeing, but this time he’s got a good reason to generally have an attitude of ‘fuck it’… He got GDed. That is to say, he’s stuck in an infinite Groundhog Day loop. As so many other fictional characters have in the years since Harold Ramis’s essential comedy was released. When we meet him in Palm Springs, he’s been stuck in it for AWHILE. His perspective on his eternal hellish vacation lifestyle is revealed when accidentally, Cristin Millioti (the sister of the bride on the wedding trip which is the day he’s been stuck in) is pulled into the loop with him. Which means, yes, this is indeed a Romantic Comedy. Don’t let that throw you because, albeit to very differing degrees, our crew dug it. Listen to Chris, Harmoni, Tessa, and Hunter give their thoughts.
DIRECTED BY: Max Barbakow
STARRING: Andy Samberg, Cristin Millioti, J.K. Simmons, Camila Mendes, Tyler Hoechlin, Meredith Hagner, Dale Dickey, Chris Pang, Peter Gallagher, June Squibb, Jacqueline Obradors, Tongayi Chirisa, Conner O’Malley
