IRRESISTIBLE MOVIE REVIEW
Jon Stewart left such a benchmark on political media culture that anytime he chooses to make a statement it’s usually worth paying attention to. However. … Narrative film is still something he struggles with creating. Pulling from his a-squad, Steve Carell plays a Democratic political strategist who, after the miserable failure for the dems that was the 2016 elections, comes up with a new strategy: find a small-town salt of the earth type, convince him to run as a Democrat for a small local election, and develop him from there. Said salt of the earth type here being Chris Cooper who he pits in an election versus the incumbent mayor in their small town. But here comes Rose Byrne as his Republican equal but opposite nemesis Faith Brewster, who largely just can’t stand to see him win anything, to pump up support for the sitting leader. Things get heated and the town is caught in the middle of big-city politics. But who really wins? Not the audience. At least that’s what SOME of our crew thought. Listen to Chris, Brad, Ryan, and Hunter cast their votes.
