BABYTEETH MOVIE REVIEW

Being there for someone when they’re dying is not an easy thing. I know for me, it was one of the hardest times of my life that still, many years later, haunts me in various ways. I’ve never particularly appreciated Hollywood seemingly reveling in twisting that knife to score emotional points in films that many have dubbed, ‘cancer porn’. But maybe that’s because it so rarely is done with any artfulness. First-time feature director Shannon Murphy brings something fresh as does her casting director, bringing in the recent wunderkind Eliza Scanlen as the young girl dealing with cancer, Toby Wallace as the young ne’er-do-well she falls for, and Essie Davis and Ben Mendelsohn as her hapless parents watching this whole thing spiral out of control. Chris, Bradly, and Adrian watched this IFC films released and they have some thoughts.
