TRUE HISTORY OF THE KELLY GANG MOVIE REVIEW
After making what is considered a really good Macbeth film, and what is considered maybe the worst video game film (the Assassins Creed movie, sadly), Justin Kurzel turns his stylish eye towards adapting the story of Aussie folk hero Ned Kelly. The True History of the Kelly Gang is rife with bad parents, punk rock sensibilities, and Russell Crowe knocking it out of the park as a foul-mouthed murderous thief and folk singer. George MacKay, as Ned Kelley, must grow up and discover who he is as a person….and who he is is a cast-iron armor-wearing punk rock poet leading a band of dress-wearing murderous thieves riding their way into Australian legend. Aaron, Ben, and Davey tell you their thoughts on this offbeat western that isn’t for everyone but will make some very very happy.
DIRECTED BY: Justin Kurzel
STARRING: George MacKay, Russell Crowe, Nicholas Hoult, Essie Davis, Sean Keenan, Jacob Collins-Levy, Thomasin McKenzie, Charlie Hunnam, Claudia Karvan, Marlon Williams, Gentle Ben Corbett, Earl Cave, Louis Hewison
