HOW TO BUILD A GIRL MOVIE REVIEW
Beanie Feldstein plays Johanna Morrigan a sad shy girl obsessed with her inner fantasy life and….well, the sex she wants but isn’t having. Which makes sense considering she’s a teenage girl in a family of 5 who shares a bedroom with her older brother. After an embarrassing turn on a local television program reading her poem about Border Collies, she decides to reinvent her life so she can become someone confident and new. In no time at all, she is pulling off a new look, meeting famous musicians, and exploring what it means to be a rock journalist in the mid 90’s Britain. But she is discovering that with this fun new life comes some new realities: that your actions have consequences and you have to deal with them. Come join Davey, Bradly, Frank, and Harmoni as they decide whether or not this movie is a generic rehash of old tropes or if it puts a refreshing female face on a story worth watching.
