ONWARD MOVIE REVIEW
Pixar’s latest animated film is set in a world of fantasy (elves, trolls, wizards, etc) but one that has lost most of its interest in magic after it discovered science was just plain easier. A young elf and his older brother are given a chance to spend one more day with their deceased father thanks to a spell and staff that was bequeathed to them but they only get it half-right. The bottom half. So, with just the legs and waist of dead dad manically running around, they gather themselves into older bro’s van and go on a quest for the magical ingredient they need to complete the spell before the 24 hours are up. Along the way, they learn stuff. As you do. There aren’t a lot of surprises here, and even for Pixar we thought this was slumming it a bit, but you’ve still got 103 minutes of passably entertaining animation. Listen to the details from Chris, Harris, Alan, and Matt Frank.
