WENDY MOVIE REVIEW
Has it really been since 2012 that director Benh Zeitlin burst onto the scene with his first film, Beasts of the Southern Wild, a film that surprised everyone by getting three Oscar noms including Best Picture? I understand there might have been some question of ‘how the hell do you follow an entrance like that’ but 8 years later, here is his second film. Wendy is a very ‘Zeitlin’ish take on the Peter Pan story: naturalistic, somewhat post-apocalyptic feeling, non-actor children, you know… And what worked so well for Beasts of the Southern Wild sadly doesn’t exactly deliver the goods in his sophomore effort. Listen to Alan and Chris grump their way through this review.
DIRECTED BY: Benh Zeitlin
STARRING: Devin France, Yashua Mack, Gage Naquin, Gavin Naquin, Ahmad Cage, Krzysztof Meyn, Romyri Ross
