Highly Suspect Reviews: The Photograph

The Photograph Movie Review

So, you tell me Issa Rae, Lakeith Stanfield, Chelsea Peretti, Lil Rel Howery, and Courtney B. Vance are gonna be in a movie together, I’m all “YES”. That’s gonna be some seriously funny stuff. But…here we are. Stanfield plays a journalist who is looking into (for reasons I’m unclear on) a guy living in Louisana and his past. A photo of ‘the one that got away’ leads Stanfield back to his home in NYC and the daughter of the woman in the photo (Issa Rae) who is dealing with the recent death of her mother and reading slower than one would imagine possible, a letter full of revelations about her past. The two hit it off annnndddd…..nothing much else happens. Yes, this tremendous team of comedy talents assembled for a dry, somewhat arty, romantic drama. Sigh. Chris, Sarah Jane, Alan, and Marcos Lira team up for this one.
