DOLITTLE MOVIE REVIEW
Robert Downey Jr goes from big superhero movies with lots of CG to big kids movies with lots of CG with Dolittle, an adaptation of the SECOND book (and believe it or not, the more popular one) in the original series. To catch up those of you who somehow have missed the premise in previous adaptations, Downey is Dr. Dolittle, a physician who has learned the ability to speak with animals. He lives on a huge estate donated by the Queen with all his animal friends, but the door is shut tight to new customers and no other humans are allowed. This change happens when his wife dies and he sinks into a hermit-like existence. Enter two children into his life: a kind-hearted young boy who wants to learn from the doctor and a young girl who is a lady-in-waiting to the Queen who is now dying of a mysterious illness and needs the doctor’s help. It all leads to a sea voyage with all his animal friends to find a mythical healing fruit. But what you’re really here to see is what a huge train wreck this reputedly is, right? Well, it’s true that the film is a huge mess and it’s also true that Chris, Ben, Spider-Mike, Marcos Lira, and Frank kinda dug it. Yeah, WE’RE the ones. Check out their review here.
