HALA MOVIE REVIEW
It’s time to come of age once again (can you do that more than once?) with the release of Apple TV+’s new movie, Hala. Adapted from a short film of the same name, the story follows the eponymous character (Geraldine Viswanathan), who is dealing with her burgeoning hormones, college in her immediate future, and veiled tensions slowly building up between her parents. Once she stumbles upon a major family secret while on a date with her high school crush (Jack Kilmer), Hala finds herself in a difficult situation confronting the hypocrisies of the principles she had been taught and the reality of her situation. Justin and Bradly volunteered to cover this film, which was acquired by Apple TV+ following a decent reception at Sundance. Did it truly move them? Find out in this review.
DIRECTED BY: Minhal Baig
STARRING: Geraldine Viswanathan, Jack Kilmer, Gabriel Luna, Purbi Joshi, Anna Chlumsky, Azad Khan, Taylor Blim
