CHARLIE’S ANGELS MOVIE REVIEW
When I posted on my social media that I was going to see a new Charlie’s Angels film, I wrote, “Here we go”. As in, SIGH. But director/writer/Bosley Elizabeth Banks really surprised me with bringing something new and deeply necessary to the franchise: a woman’s perspective. Kristen Stewart and Ella Balinska are our two already-on-the-job Angels; Stewart as the wild-child, Balinska as the all-business one. When a systems engineer (Naomi Scott) brings them fears of a new energy tech being rushed to market that has serious dangers associated with it, suddenly there’s goddamn assassins all over the place. Scott, as the brainy fish out of water character, is launched into a world of spies, guns, gadgets, and double-crosses and finds that she really likes it. Chris, Sarah Jane, and Jen are definitely not saying this is the best thing you’re going to go see in theaters this month, for sure. But it damn sure is a good start to finding how to make the Angels franchise actually work. Check out their review here.
DIRECTED BY: Elizabeth Banks
STARRING: Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, Ella Balinska, Elizabeth Banks, Djimon Hounsou, Sam Claflin, Noah Centineo, Patrick Stewart, Luis Gerardo Mendez, Jonathan Tucker, Chris Pang, Nat Faxon, Robert Clotworthy
