HUSTLERS MOVIE REVIEW
No, it’s not a sequel to The People vs Larry Flynt. Hustlers is the newest film by director Lorene Scafaria (Seeking a Friend for the End of the World) and it follows Constance Wu as Destiny, a stripper in NYC who, with the guidance of friendship of a more experienced co-worker Ramona (J-Lo) learns the tips and tricks of the trade. All is well until the big Wall Street crash in 2007 and then…more devious schemes are called for. Based on a true story and featuring lots of memorable supporting performances from big stars like Cardi B, Lizzo, and Julia Stiles, if this had come out in January I think we’d all be preparing to see and forget about it but after a big and celebrated release at TIFF, we were ready for a game-changer of a film. Let’s listen to see what Chris, Mindy, Harmoni, and (introducing) Jay thought about it.
DIRECTED BY: Lorene Scafaria
STARRING: Constance Wu, Jennifer Lopez, Cardi B, Lili Reinhart, Keke Palmer, Julia Stiles, Lizzo, Mercedes Ruehl, Trace Lysette, Usher, Madeline Brewer, Frank Whaley, Brandon Keener, Steven Boyer, Jon Glaser
