RENO 911!: THE HUNT FOR QANON MOVIE REVIEW
You wouldn’t think in this day and age, where there’s a growing demand for oversight in law-enforcement, that a movie like this can still exist. Reno 911! was released on Comedy Central back in 2003. Taking the reality TV look of COPS, the creators and cast injected improv and made it an instant hit. Created by Thomas Lennon, Kerri Kenney, and Robert Ben Garant, we find the Reno Sheriff’s Department on a QAnon booze cruise, to give service of process to “Q.” Jordan, Trevor, & Chad discuss the history of the show and it’s relevance in comedy, almost 20 years later.

Chad Halvorsen (Screener Squad)
Chad Halvorsen currently resides in Milwaukee, WI, where he produces and edits commercials, films, and everything in between. He was always a fan of film/television growing up, spending days in the Summer, making (terrible) home movies with his brothers. Little did he know that passion would carry on into adulthood. Since 2006, Chad has worked for several agencies in various departments. Shooting, producing, editing, production management, directing, and when forced to, writing copy. Jordan Cobb (Screener Squad)
Born with a comic book in one hand, a camera in the other, and in front of the television as WrestleMania played out, Jordan Worth Cobb was thus birthed into this crazy world. A Digital Filmmaking major from the University of Central Arkansas, Jordan has done it all in film from directing, writing, editing, and producing in addition to skills involved in film and TV criticism, journalism, and years of podcasting experience. On any given day, her ADHD riddled brain bounces focus from film to pro wrestling to TV to superheroes to noir to video games to espionage and yes, even to sports. She played little league you know. Trevor Trujillo (Screener Squad)
Trevor T. Trujillo is a One Of Us contributor in addition to being the co-host, co-founder, and co-producer of the Nighthawks Podcast. Trevor’s 17-year media career spans multiple arenas including television, radio, podcasting, and online journalism; and he is currently the editor-in-chief for a regional online news provider in the Rocky Mountain West. Often a nomad, Trevor has found himself “at home” in places like Austin, Texas; West Hollywood, California; and throughout central and southeastern Wyoming. Love love love you loved the movie. You love it for the same reasons I do. To answer some of your questions:
We shot on the Queen Mary. Seven days on the Queen mary, two days in Malibu, two days in the valley.
Agree — Wendi and Patton steal the movie. Aren’t they a goddamn delight in this? All improvised dialogue. Always. Most of their scenes, we did in one or two takes. And usually used mostly the first one.
We had to cut two big Ian scenes, for time, but I thought he was terrific. Every word out of this mouth was gold.
Garcia, we didn’t set out to make him so sparse, but we really just couldn’t service everyone, there’s too many of us.
William’s double — we only niecy for three days. We use a Wendi double a lot too. We had her for… four days? Five maybe?
And yes, the budget was tight. We shot it in eleven days. Below the line budget was about six million.
