The Silencing Movie Review

THE SILENCING MOVIE REVIEW

It’s been five years since Rayburn’s (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) daughter was kidnapped, never to be seen again. Now the former hunter and fur trapper is a broken man. He spends his days managing a wildlife sanctuary, hanging up missing posters, and drinking heavily. When the body of a murdered girl is discovered near the sanctuary, Rayburn becomes convinced her death is connected with his daughter’s disappearance. Leading the murder investigation is the new town sheriff, Gustafson (Annabelle Wallis) who concludes that they are looking for a serial killer. The situation becomes complicated when she realizes her own brother is the prime suspect. This sets her on a collision course with Rayburn, who’s intent on bringing the killer to justice himself.

While “The Silencing” is a mostly by the book thriller, it does feature good performances and has a surprise or two up its sleeve. The question is, was that enough to recommend the movie? Our crack team of reviewers, Adrian, Rae, Lewayne and Marco, discuss whether this movie deserves to be met with applause, or deafening silence.
