The Prey Movie Review

THE PREY MOVIE REVIEW

“The Prey” is the latest action thriller from French-born, Cambodian-based filmmaker Jimmy Henderson. Xin (Gu Shangwei) is an undercover Chinese cop who has infiltrated a criminal organization in Phnom Penh. When the local police raid the criminals’ headquarters, they arrest Xin and send him to a remote jungle prison. Knowing it’s only a matter of time before Chinese Intelligence comes looking for him, Xin decides not to reveal his identity. Unfortunately, the sadistic Warden (Vithaya Pansringarm) has other plans for Xin and his fellow inmates.

For an exorbitant fee, the Warden offers wealthy sociopaths the chance to hunt the prisoners and Xin has been chosen as one of the prey. Armed with only his wits, Xin must find a way out of the jungle while evading the heavily armed maniacs on his trail. If you think that sounds like a variation on “The Most Dangerous Game” you’d be right. It’s one of the most influential short stories of all time, and our sharp shooting crew of reviewers Lewayne, Adrian, Max and Marco are fans of the template but what did they think of the movie? Listen and find out!
