La Llorona Movie Review

LA LLORONA MOVIE REVIEW

A Guatemalan fascist is on trial for genocide and protests leave him and his family trapped in their mansion. After the exodus of most of their staff, a new servant arrives from the far mountains and she may not be what she seems. It’s a family drama with ghosts, or it’s an allegorical examination of Guatemala’s genocidal history, or it’s a tale of magical realism, or maybe it’s something else altogether. Bradly, Adrian, Doggett, and Lewayne delve into this new version of the myth of La Llorona and try to sort out whether it’s horror, fantasy, or drama, and even whether they recommend Jayro Bustamante’s latest movie.
