HOLLYWOOD SERIES REVIEW

Ryan Murphy has made a career off of making wacky, out-there television filled with sex, drugs, outlandish characters, and clever use of pop songs. His new miniseries on Netflix is no exception. Taking place in the heart of the studio system and racial injustice of the ’40s, this show follows a diverse cast of characters both young and old as they come together to make a movie that could change America…..oh and there is a TON of sex. The cast in this is so star-studded that it’s hard to even list them all. Camille Washington, Jack Castello, Joe Mantello, and Archie Coleman each give star-making performances and this series is full of more established stars turning in phenomenal character work like Patti LuPone, Mira Sorvino, and mother fracking Rob Reiner. The show mixes its fictional characters with real Hollywood legends and that may rub some wrong way. It certainly did some of our reviewers. Come listen to Aaron, Frank, and Nathan discuss their very different opinions on this gaudy take on sex and racism in America that is either an insult to the very history of Hollywood or a heartwarming tale of what could have happened.
