The Traitor Movie Review

THE TRAITOR MOVIE REVIEW

The Godfather 3.5. That’s kinda what we kept thinking when watching this new Italian Mafia (oh, sorry Cosa Nostra, there is no Mafia) film from legendary director Marco Bellocchio. Based on the true story of Tommaso Buscetta, a member of the Sicilian Mafia who had already tried to escape them with his family to Brazil when he was arrested and extradited back to Italy. There he decided to become one of the very first to testify against the Mafia in the 1986 Maxi Trial (the largest anti-Mafia trial in history). This is the real thing and it feels an awful lot like THOSE movies that were protested against as being nonsense by members of the ‘non-existent mafia’. What you get is a pretty gripping trial film and a window into this unique world and how it all came crashing down. Hard to dislike. In fact, we all pretty much dug it. Listen to Chris, Ben, and Mindy give you the scoop.
