Birds of Prey Movie Review

BIRDS OF PREY MOVIE REVIEW

Ahem. The ENTIRE title is, “Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)”. Although “Harley Quinn and also Featuring The Birds of Prey” would have been a more accurate title, it’s important to note that this film is primarily about Harley (Margot Robbie) being fantabulously emancipated. See, being Joker’s girlfriend came with big perks: namely, everyone was too terrified of him to fuck with her at all and so she learned to do whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted. As the film begins, we are told of their break-up, and eventually, the word gets out. All those people who hated Harley (justifiably) come out of the woodwork declaring open season. Most dangerous is Black Mask (Ewan McGregor) a gang boss who wants Harley dead, but wants a macguffiny diamond even more. So, sometimes a girl’s gotta call up some friends for help. Or, if not friends, at least people who share a desire to take down a mutual baddie. Thus, Birds of Prey. Chris, Sarah Jane, Frank, Mindy, and JC had a lot to weigh in on here from different perspectives and there is indeed a lot to unpack. Check out their review here.
