Highly Suspect Reviews: Ford V Ferrari

Ford V Ferrari Movie Review

FORD V FERRARI MOVIE REVIEW

I’m not exactly a big car guy. I mean, I don’t know much about racing. Had no idea that at one point (the early 60s) Ford Motor Company was struggling and decided the way to win back America’s confidence was to build and race a sports car (which had never been their thing) to take on Ferrari at the 24 hour (!) legendary race, Le Mans. Picturing the time and the situation it seems like a laughable ambition. But they did, and they hired racer/designer Carroll Shelby (Matt Damon) to do it. No longer able to race the cars himself for health reasons, Shelby hired unpredictable and temperamental wild-card Ken Miles (Christian Bale) to work with him and drive the vehicle. While the two make ambitious and impressive strides, the Ford company themselves do everything they can to shoot themselves in the foot. We weren’t terribly surprised that cinema stalwart James Mangold made a decent film out of this subject. We didn’t think it would be THIS entertaining. Check out Chris, Beau, Sarah Jane, and Alan on the review.
