Legendary Hollywood screenwriter Paul Schraeder writes and directs this film about Toller (Ethan Hawke), a priest overseeing a very small church kept going, despite minimum attendance, largely because of its long history. His own struggles with the death of his son who he encouraged to enlist in the military (as the family tradition dictated) is sidelined by a young parishioner (Amanda Seyfried) who comes to him about her husband, a radical environmentalist who wants her to have an abortion and who she is afraid might be getting into dangerous stuff.
