Dwayne Johnson and DC are cooking something up

Of all the people being potentially cast as comic book characters with towering physiques, why didn’t this one come sooner?

Well, we don’t know which character he’ll be just yet. But thanks to The Hollywood Reporter, we know for now that professional wrestler/actor superstar, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, is apparently in talks with Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment to be involved in one of their upcoming projects. This was revealed through a tweet that Johnson had put out on New Year’s Eve:

We just had a big meeting w/ Warner Bros CEO re: @DCComics 2014 we will partner up and create the cool bad assert. #RockTalk @ActionTilson

— Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) December 31, 2013

Johnson is no stranger to being attached to DC projects, as his name was in contention for the role of Black Adam in a Captain Marvel movie and as the titular anti-hero in a film about Lobo. As a side note, Johnson’s mention of 2014 has been taken as a date for when this project will come to fruition, but it could very well be leftover festivity for New Year’s Eve.

The way it looks at this point in time, this announcement could go anywhere. The safe guess for now would be that Johnson is joining the already massive cast of Batman vs Superman as a key character, whether it’d be the long-rumored Martian Manhunter or even the recently suggested John Stewart/Green Lantern, a character rumored in some circles to be played by Denzel Washington. Or, if his inclusion of 2014 in his tweet is indeed the time that this project will materialize, then it might be something much smaller in scale. I doubt the latter possibility strongly, as DC is no Marvel Studios in getting their projects off the ground with uncanny speed. Either way, whatever The Rock is cooking with DC is smelling mighty appetizing so far.
