I could not be happier for the success of The Muppets because it brings some much needed childhood nostalgia to my cold black heart. I am only just a little ashamed to say that Life’s A Happy Song has the top spot on my iPod’s Top 25 Most Played playlist- but then again I’m not ashamed because everyone needs a little pick me up during the brutal day-to-day work week.
The news of a Muppets sequel was equally as exciting. Additionally, the release of the first trailer, while sparse on material, raised the excitement that it was indeed coming and presented a pretty fun title, Muppets Most Wanted. I’m a little bummed that it doesn’t look like Amy Adams and Jason Segal aren’t returning, but seeing names like Tom Hiddleston, Christoph Waltz, Tina Fey and Ricky Gervais in the cast list more than makes up for it.
The first teaser poster simply featured the iconic Muppets ‘M’ with a stamp of Most Wanted underneath, which was great for a teaser poster, but the new one sheet released by Disney is much more suitable to the film. It is similar to the previous film in that it throws the headline stars in and fits in a whole bunch of our favorite Muppets. It places Tina Fey and Ricky Gervais around Ty Burrell who appears to be literally a mustache twirling villain.
James Bobin is returning to direct which I think is a very good sign as he did a fantastic job in my opinion with the first film and I’m sincerely hoping for more of the same fun nostalgic fun this time around.
What do you think of the first official poster for Muppets Most Wanted? Did you like Bobin’s The Muppets? What kind of cameos are your ‘most wanted’ in a Muppets movie?
