Ed Helms plays Rusty Griswold, now all grown up, married to Christina Applegate, and with two boys of his own. He suffers from feelings of inadequacy because, well, in some ways he’s pretty inadequate. To try to bring his dysfunctional family back together, he piles them into the worst rental car ever (seriously, worse than the family truckster) and sets out on a cross-country trip to Walley World, echoing his memory of his vacation with his family long past (RE: National Lampoon’s Vacation).

This Next Generation movie doesn’t miss many opportunities to remind us of that original film which is sometimes good, sometimes really really bad. Listen to Beau, Sarah and Chris give their take on it.

Born in the wilds of northern Virginia, in 1992 Chris managed to put all of his survival skills to use and barely escaped with his life to Austin Texas, where ever since he’s dabbled in everything from plumber’s assistant to sandwich maker, from band to bar management. An opportunity to see theatrical release films for free, by becoming a critic on a local public access show called “The Reel Deal”, turned into a full time job when Chris and his friends decided to take it to the internet. They built the site Spill.com, adding multiple podcasts and animated features, to no small amount of success. During this time, a fortuitous friendship sprung up between Chris and young Brian Salisbury, who was also a local film critic, and they merged their forces of will, and their laundry list of ideas for shows, to eventually build this paradise you see before you.

Hey the writers of this movie, may write the new Spider-Man movie.

    • And, with Vacation (2015) being unbridled garbage, I don’t have much faith in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

The writer of the essays the first Vacation is based on is John Hughes.

    • A. Smith

He also wrote the essays that turned into Christmas Vacation.

The others: European Vacation, Christmas Vacation 2, Vegas Vacation & this are all original.

  • You were only half hallucinating about the cop movie Chris.

And oddly enough European Vacation is my favorite, but, I’m European.
