Highly Suspect Reviews: Terminator: Genisys

14 Submitted by on Tue, 30 June 2015, 10:59

Arnie is back, the timelines are skewed, there’s different actors playing all the rest of the key parts, and the Unusual Suspects have showed up en masse to try to decipher the latest film in the Terminator saga.

Chris, JC, Beau, Ashley, Elliot, Sarah and Joe somehow manage to keep a reign on the potential chaos and deliver a review that explores the gamut of possible feelings about this divisive film. And, because it’s almost impossible to really talk about this without spoiling stuff, we keep it pristine for a regular review, then we come back and talk in depth with spoilers.

Born in the wilds of northern Virginia, in 1992 Chris managed to put all of his survival skills to use and barely escaped with his life to Austin Texas, where ever since he’s dabbled in everything from plumber’s assistant to sandwich maker, from band to bar management. An opportunity to see theatrical release films for free, by becoming a critic on a local public access show called “The Reel Deal”, turned into a full time job when Chris and his friends decided to take it to the internet. They built the site Spill.com, adding multiple podcasts and animated features, to no small amount of success. During this time, a fortuitous friendship sprung up between Chris and young Brian Salisbury, who was also a local film critic, and they merged their forces of will, and their laundry list of ideas for shows, to eventually build this paradise you see before you.

This is the review with the most people.

You may be right. It’s got 7 reviewer’s over Guardians 6.

I hope there is 11 people for the Star Wars 7 review.

Richard, Elliot, JC, Chris, Brain, Ashley, Sam, Joe, Beau, Sarah, and Jonny Neil would make 11, 12 if we could get Jason. Martin would no doubt be on Double Toasted which is why I didn’t add his to this list.

24 if we have these guys, Jeff, John, Amanda, Allison, Kayla, Kristin, Cargill, Grant, Randy, Greg, Tony, and Brushwood. So that means a 5 hour review of the movie.

Well, it looks like I’ll be watching this one on Honest Trailer or Everything Wrong With. Apparently James Carmon is the only person capable of making a kick-ass Terminator movie. BTW, why the hell is that?

I find it interesting that 2 Game of Thrones actresses have played Sarah Conner, one before GOT and one during. Also, to whoever threw out the dog line, there’s actually comic book that features a Terminator dog.

I thought I was gonna walk out disappointed and you know what? I enjoyed it. The science is all over the place and the plot is all over the place. There are a lot of flaws in the film. One thing is for certain, and its that the real true saving grace of the movie was Arnold Schwarzenegger. I couldn’t stop laughing at all his scenes, it was like as if I was 12 again and was watching all my favorite Arnold films and his funny one liners. Yeah I get the feeling that Schwarzenegger did this film so he could shit allover Salvation.

I thought it was a fun time, not exceptional but still entertaining.

I’d give it a star for Arnie and the anti aging fx, it was cool to see him fight himself i guess but everything else was just a mish-mash of scenes from the other films, slickly done but with none of the character or charisma, and the bad Terminator cos-play all gets so horribly convoluted and has some truly shite lines – ”we burned our eyebrows off together and laughed about it for days” and ”pops”! really? keep calling him that over, and over! and over…

When that one guy is doing his review (I think his name is Beau?), is anyone ever tempted to say, “Yes, we know!”?

    Terminator Days of Future Past.

Funny you guys say scary. T1 and T2 was pretty much a horror movie/sci fi. Why T1 T2 they were killing people all the while going after the Connors. Holloween Mike Myers was killing people going after Jaime Curtus, Friday the 13 same deal. So, to me T1 and T2 were prety much horror movies.

Looks like some people need to go back and rewatch the original two Terminators. They made it explicit that John Connor was important specifically because he knew how to fight Terminators and Skynet not just how to fight in general. In this movie they even make the point abundantly clear before he sends Reese back when he says that after Kyle goes back his knowledge of the future ends. It’s akin to playing a really hard video game and your friend comes along with cheat codes. Of course you’re going to follow that guy.
